1966 National Day Badge

This badge features a crescent and five stars - representing Singapore's flag - and the year "1966". It is likely to be a souvenir issued in commemoration of Singapore’s first anniversary of independence. A similar badge labelled "1967" was issued for the 1967 National Day Parade. Singapore’s first National Day Parade commenced at 9am on 9 August 1966 at the Padang. It involved 23,000 participants and included a military parade through Chinatown.
