This shard was previously part of a Dehua porcelain bowl or cup. It has abstract motifs, possibly floral, decorated in underglaze blue on its body. Blue and white Dehua wares are sometimes classified under ‘southern provincial wares’ or ‘minan ware’ (wares produced in south Fujian). These wares were made for domestic use or for export and their quality is generally of a lower standard.
