This wedding gown has a round neckline, leg of mutton sleeves and a princess waist line. The over skirt is made of lace while the bodice, waist line and the sleeves (at the wrists) are shaped by an organza-like material. Both the bodice and waist are fitting while the skirt tapers loosely from the waist. The gown was bought in 1950 from Hilda’s, a Jewish-run local store that sold wedding gowns. It belonged to the vendor’s (Jean Ho) mother, Ann Soh York Lan, who wore it at her wedding. The style and silhouette of the gown were probably popular at that point in time.
