Deity cap

This brocade turban is embellished with zardozi (twisted wire) and a miniature sarpech (turban ornament) made of velvet, zardozi and sequins. Costumes made for deities were often made in the prevailing fashion, and donated for special occassions by important patrons of temples. The quality of the materials used for costumes, like in the case of this turban, is therefore quite high.
