Emily of Emerald Hill Japanese translation

This is a Japanese translation of Emily of Emerald Hill that was done in anticipation of a Japanese version of the play. Interestingly, the translation failed to express the nuances of the exclamations that Emily Gan would make in Baba Malay. However, it is yet another example of the international appeal of the play. Stella Kon is an award-winning Singapore playwright whose most important work was the 1983 one-woman play, Emily of Emerald Hill. She is also a descendent of two prominent Peranakan philanthropists, Tan Tock Seng and Dr Lim Boon Keng.
