Cotton rolling board

This wooden board decorated with geometric patterns and the head of an ancestor, is a tool for rolling out seeds from cotton bolls. Weaving is an important part of everyday life in traditional tribal society and its success required spiritual assistance. Ancestors were believed to watch over the many complex steps in the weaving process in order to ensure its success.
