Bark cloth

This barkcloth is undecorated and may have been used as a blanket. Barkcloth was once used all over the Indonesian archipelago for everyday garments and for ceremonial and ritual purposes. They are basically divided into two categories, ornamented or decorated ones showing painted surface decoration and worn on ceremonial and ritual occasions, and undecorated ones meant for everyday use.
