G. Uttamram’s business correspondence

G. Uttamram was a respected Indian businessman, philanthropist and community leader in Singapore. In 1931, he established Uttamram & Co., an import-export textile company, in Arab Street. The business expanded and it soon became Uttamram (Singapore) & Co., with offices in Japan, Hong Kong, Penang and Jakarta. In 1947, he established another company, K. Ramanial & Co. (with Mr. Kanubhai Mehta). The company specialised in commodity trading and later diversified into scrap metal. This is a correspondence with his business associate.
